WoW server suffers outbreak after a debuff breaches containment, giving me flashbacks to a 21-year-old incident so large Covid-19 researchers referenced it
World of Warcraft's had another brush with a digital plague—on the Moon Guard US server, capital cities were overcome with waves of toxic activity that saw vitriol line the streets. But enough about trade chat—there was also a debuff spreading around and killing people.
This China-only RTX 4080 GPU combines laptop silicon with desktop hardware, and draws a fraction of the power of a more traditional graphics card
As a manufacturing hub, China sees plenty of unique hardware projects—like this gaming Megazord. But there's plenty of innovation to be found beyond one-and-done projects like this.
For instance, back when the US Department of Commerce restricted the export of Nvidia's RTX 4090 cards, Chinese manufacturers got creative. The so-called RTX 4080M card was one result of that, featuring laptop GPU silicon on top of a custom desktop PCIe board (via Videocardz). To be clear, this is not an unofficial Nvidia product and therefore doesn't enjoy official driver support or warranties.

Today's Nice Price or No Dice 986 has done a lot of miles and shows its age. It has also had an engine replacement, but it still requires some work to make it reliable. Let's see if it's worth getting our hands dirty.
A second OG Steam Controller prototype has been found at Goodwill
Seven years ago, a user of the Steam Controller subreddit found a prototype of the original Steam Controller at a local Goodwill. Recently, in a strange bit of luck, a second prototype has been found at Goodwill. What we're feeding the Maw
Happy this week, all! Also: huge apologies to the World Cup organisers and teams for any matchside cosmic sabotage brought on by our struggle to feed the Maw. Truth be told, Mexico should have had last night's game in the bag, if only I'd topped up the Maw's feeding trough on Friday with another handful of Slay the Spire 2 stories. In its hunger, the creature broke containment, and fell upon the sacred realm of association football, kindling all manner of pandemonium.
Older than the sun: Astronomers find new clues to the origin of interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS
Astronomers have used the European Southern Observatory's Very Large Telescope (ESO's VLT) to study the composition of 3I/ATLAS, the brightest interstellar object ever seen, in detail. By measuring specific chemical fingerprints—the first observations of this kind for a comet that formed outside the solar system—they found that 3I/ATLAS likely originated in the outskirts of an old star system.

William Kamkwamba’s story has been told before – in a viral TED talk; in his memoir, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind; and in the film adaptation of the same name. But now it’s a musical, currently playing at @sohoplace in London until 18 July, and a charming one at that.
