Well, Professor Pippin Barr, you've done it again: you've ruined chess

Eight more free browser-based variants from the chess-distresser extraordinaire

Back in 2019, experimental game developer and actual university professor Pippin Barr released a browser game consisting of eight, very silly variations on chess - a flagrant assault on the dignity of a strategy experience whose roots go back a thousand years, which Barr justified as an effort to "allow non-players of chess to get a kick out of the game".

2027 Tesla Model Y L Finally Lands on American Shores Starting at $63,630

  • Plenty of families bought the Tesla Model X not for its fancy rear doors, but for its three-row convenience.
  • With the X put out to pasture, Tesla needs to offer something a bit bigger than the Y, and it already makes such a car for the Chinese market.
  • The new Tesla Model Y L's six-inch-longer wheelbase gives it a proper third row compared with the regular Model Y; the L Launch Series starts at $63,630.

The discontinuation of the Model S was the end of an era for Tesla, but not really something the company's accountants had to worry about much. Sedans, after all, don't have a huge audience these days, and there are always higher-content trims of the Model 3. However, the Model X folding its doors for the last time is more problematic, as it squeezes out families looking for a third-row solution. With the Hyundai Ioniq 9 and Kia EV9 offering plenty of space and electric range, the competition was right there.

Slay the Spire 2 has received a bunch of potent new cards specifically for co-operative multiplayer. They span all five of the game's classes, from the aloof and stargazing Regent to the venomous and underhand Silent (Silent! My beloved, etc). The update in question is out now via the roguelite deckbuilder's Steam beta branch, and comprises of a new colourless card, two new Regent cards, and three cards apiece for the other four classes. A few other cards have been reworked. All told, it's a great time to have friends who enjoy killing steeples.

Planets beyond our solar system can have magnetic fields similar to those closer to home, astronomers said Tuesday after observing extreme winds on scorching worlds known as "hot Jupiters."

Short-lived sources of radio radiation in the sky, known as radio transients, can originate in the vicinity of supermassive black holes in the centers of galaxies. They are the result of processes that take place under extreme physical conditions. While most radio transients associated with galactic centers last only days or weeks, the galaxy SDSS J110546.07+145202.4 has been shining very brightly in radio light for several years—the first source of its kind.

Red, White, and Blown: Roush's 'Red Edition' Ford F-150 Supercharger Kit Salutes America

  • Roush has released a special Red Edition supercharger kit for 2021–2026 Ford F-150 models with the 5.0-liter V-8.
  • The Red Edition is a limited-production release that was created to celebrate the company turning 50 and America's 250th birthday.
  • The $8899.99 kit costs the same as the existing one, albeit with a red-painted supercharger housing; both increase output to 705 horsepower and 635 pound-feet of torque.

The engineers at Roush are no strangers to big numbers. They already make a kit to supercharge the 5.0-liter V-8s in 2021-and-newer Ford F-150s, giving them 705 horsepower. Now, just in time for two big-number birthdays, that kit is available in a new color: red.
