‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Concept Art Reveals First Look at Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, Returning X-Men Characters

The first clear look at Robert Downey Jr.‘s Doctor Doom mask has arrived, courtesy of some concept art posted by a Marvel Cinematic Universe icon.

Former Marvel visual department director Andy Park took to X on July 11 to share an illustration from the upcoming blockbuster.

“AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY – the final full film I had the honor of leading as Director of Visual Development at Marvel Studios,” he wrote on the social media platform. “This illustration commemorates that journey & reveals the characters & their looks for the first time. #AvengersDoomsday.”

See the image below, which also includes the first looks at some returning X-Men such as Nightcrawler (Alan Cumming), Beast (Kelsey Grammer) and Mystique (Rebecca Romijn), who had also not been seen in promotional material. There’s also a mysterious image of Loki (Tom Hiddleston) at the center of the art.

Park was part of Disney layoffs in April, and he also announced his departure on X, writing, “Marvel Studios Visual Development: 2010–2026. End of an era. I was there at the start of a team that broke the mold. 16 years, 40+ films, and 15 films led as Director of Visual Development, I couldn’t be prouder of the history we made.”

“Doomsday” looks to be Marvel’s biggest movie yet, with a sprawling cast of superheroes portrayed by series mainstays Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Wyatt Russell, Channing Tatum, Simu Liu, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, Joseph Quinn, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Letitia Wright and many more.
