Long before their ongoing disappointing season, the New York Mets invested heavily into a starting rotation anchored by three star players.

For six seasons, including an All-Star sophomore campaign and a Rookie of the Year caliber debut, the team’s rotation included young and powerful ace Noah Syndergaard, who pitched alongside Jacob deGrom and Matt Harvey for several years.

Though Syndergaard has attempted to stick with several big-league clubs since his time with the Mets ended, his recent focus has turned to politics.

Former New York Mets Star Embraces President Trump After MLB Exit

Though Syndergaard has said that he’d like to return to the mound, in the meantime he has become increasingly involved in the Make America Healthy Again movement led by Donald Trump appointee Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Recently, he was welcomed to the White House for an event to publicize the initiative and has embraced the polarizing president in public comments.

“Former MLB pitcher Noah Syndergaard, best known for his stint as a young star with the New York Mets, spoke out in support of President Donald Trump while criticizing the president's critics,” Jackson Thompson reported for Fox News. “Syndergaard was one of Trump's athlete guests at the White House … for the event celebrating Trump's plan to bring annual fitness tests back to school in the United States.”

For many Mets fans, that appearance might have been the first time they had seen the former ace pitcher since his last big-league appearance in 2023. But now the pitcher is receiving national media attention for another new reason.

Highlighting his commitment to national health, Syndergaard was the recent focus of a GQ magazine profile that painted him as an aimless and unabashedly outspoken personality.

“It gets a little lonely at times,” Syndergaard told reporter Leo Sepkowitz about his day-to-day life, potentially revealing a search for purpose following a high-profile career in Queens. “A lot of guys have families already, and those come before whatever Noah wants to do.”

That sense of uncertainty appears to have contributed to Syndergaard's willingness to explore new interests, public appearances and potential career paths. And the profile also included a message directed at another polarizing figure, 20-year-old internet personality Braden Peters, who goes by the moniker Clavicular online.

“I could be like the real Clavicular,” Syndergaard told Sepkowitz, comparing himself to Peters because the two share an interest in alternative health routines. “What a jack-ass that guy is.
