Perez Hilton is undergoing medical care after he appeared to physically harm himself on a TikTok livestream, his family and team confirmed in a statement. “We can confirm that Perez is receiving medical care, and our family’s focus right now is on his well-being,” a new post on the official Perez Hilton website reads. “We kindly ask that you respect Perez’s privacy, as well as the privacy of his family, during this difficult time.”

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office initially stated that Hilton was “safely recovered” and transported to a local hospital following the incident. On the evening of Aug. 4, the Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple calls regarding an individual who was livestreaming acts of self-harm on social media. Hilton was alone in his residence at the time of the incident. Additional details have not been made available by police or Hilton’s family, who shared, “If and when we are able to share any updates, we will do so with everyone as soon as we can.”

According to a TikTok spokesperson, the platform’s moderators flagged the livestream shortly after Hilton went live and alerted local law enforcement. It remains unclear how long the celebrity blogger was live on the platform before the stream was disabled, though the spokesperson indicated it was less than 15 minutes. After the livestream was shut down, TikTok banned Hilton’s account for violating TikTok’s community guidelines, which prohibit content that could be considered shocking or graphic. “We don’t allow anything extremely gory, disturbing, or violent, especially when it could cause psychological harm,” TikTok’s policy reads.

On Wednesday, Hilton’s management company also released a statement regarding the incident that echoed sentiments from the one posted on the blogger’s site, further emphasizing “that everyone continue to honor his privacy while he receives the care he needs” and that they do not have “any additional confirmed information to share regarding Hilton’s condition.”

Chris Booker, Hilton’s co-host on The Perez Hilton Podcast with Chris Booker, also released a statement on Wednesday. “I am so profoundly sad for Perez and his family and what they’re all are going through,” Booker wrote, adding that he spoke briefly with Perez’s family. “Even the family is struggling to get updates due to the confidential security measures in place at the hospital because of how many people are trying to get information. Any updates will come via PerezHilton.com.”

Booker added that the shows are “TBD at the moment as our collective focus is on his health.” He continued, “I certainly hope to continue them with my friend when the time is appropriate. I will give updates there when the time is right.” Perez has co-hosted the weekly podcast with Booker since 2015. Hilton last taped an episode for The Perez Hilton Podcast with Chris Booker on Monday, sources say.

Hilton, born Mario Lavandeira, gained fame after launching his highly popular gossip website in the early aughts, and garnered notoriety for his unapologetic and often controversial takes on celebrities’ lives. Several celebrities and their PR teams have denounced Hilton for his vicious public insults, including Khloe Kardashian, Miley Cyrus, and Lady Gaga, a former friend of Hilton.
