Original creators come on board as new director takes the lead

The eleventh installment in the Saw series has been revealed. Jigsaw's puppet is the main focus of the announcement video, laughing as it pedals its tricycle. Before the clip ends, the camera angle shifts, revealing a movie script. On the front page, it reads "Untitled Saw. Directed by Mike P. Nelson".

New Saw movie announced ahead of spooky season

Mike P. Nelson is known for his work on horror reboots like Wrong Turn (2021) and Silent Night, Deadly Night (2025), and that is what many believe he's come to do the same with Saw. It seems that the upcoming title is inclined to return the franchise to its roots. Saw (2004) was originally directed by James Wan, and co-created by Wan and Leigh Whannell. After years away from the franchise, Wan and Whannell have joined the new project as producers.

The movie remains untitled, rather than being called Saw 11. This has led many fans to believe it is a reboot or a remake instead of a sequel to Saw X. According to Deadline, several statements have been made regarding the importance of the first movie; namely, how Wan believes Nelson will honor the world of Saw, how the untitled movie will "bring the mystery of the original while exploring new bloody ideas, and how "[Wan's] belief in Mike evokes his breakthrough with the original Saw."

The upcoming title will most likely be heavily inspired by the original Saw, or could even function as a full reboot. Nevertheless, this is all speculation for now, and fans will have to sit tight and stay tuned for further on the untitled Saw movie.
