Avatar: Seven Havens Is the Only Reason I'm Considering a Paramount+ Subscription in 2026

Avatar: Seven Havens premiered last week, exclusively on Paramount+. And shortly after that happened, Paramount went ahead and revealed that seasons 3 and 4 of the series are already greenlit alongside another Avatar project.
As someone who doesn't currently have a Paramount+ subscription, I find myself conflicted. Avatar: The Last Air Bender is my favorite animated show of all time and I loved what the creators did with The Legend of Korra as well. So while I really want to watch Seven Havens, I don't really want to add a Paramount+ subscription to my monthly streaming bill.
I could have easily written off the new show as a shameless grab for my subscription dollars, but the very positive reviews of the premiere make it it harder to avoid. Pair that with the fact that I still haven't seen the Avatar Aang movie yet, and it seems inevitable that I'm going to get at least a temporary subscription just to watch those two things.
The good news is that the release schedule for Avatar: Seven Havens is actually pretty condensed. There are 13 episodes in season 1, but they are all releasing in batches. The final four episodes are currently set to be added to the service on October 30. So if you sign up for a one-month subscription now, you should be able to finish the series before you cancel.
Paramount+ used to offer a free trial, but they decided to drop that at the beginning of the year when they began adding UFC fights to the platform. That being said, there is a free trial of sorts available if you choose to take the Walmart+ route. If you haven't used it already, you can currently sign up for 30 days for $1, which happens to include access to basic Paramount+ subscription.

With the Paramount Skydance acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery now complete, this is likely not the last time a Paramount+ subscription will be needed to watch a popular show. For now I'm still clinging to my HBO Max, Hulu, and Disney+ bundle as my main source of content, but who knows when that could go away. For now I'm glad I only have to spend an extra $8.99 to watch the new Avatar show.
