‘Fruit Gathering’ Review: Two Working Women Chase Impossible Dreams and Desires in a Delicate Debut from Myanmar
Acts of kindness are few and far between in the punishing Myanmar textile factory where young San Kyi (Nandar Myat Aung) makes a meager living, hunched over a sewing machine. When new employee Theint (Nandar Myint Lwin) tells a white lie to cover for her after an unauthorized bathroom break, San Kyi’s face turns positively radiant with gratitude, while Teint merely winks in response. On this simple moment of solidarity between strangers, a close friendship is founded. But in Aung Phyoe‘s tremulous, allusive drama “Fruit Gathering,” the possibility of something more chafes against the women’s insecurities and social boundaries — while an unspoken current of queerness permeates proceedings long before a single, reckless kiss forces characters to address it.
Wimbledon 2026 results: Henry Patten and Harri Heliovaara reclaim men's doubles title
After being presented with the men's doubles trophy on Centre Court, Patten took time to defend doubles tennis after the men's ATP Tour proposed significant changes earlier this month.
A group of leading doubles players accused the tour of trying to "end doubles as a viable profession", after discussions were held around halving the size of future doubles draws and cutting prize money in order to allocate a greater share to singles players.
Could permanent magnets protect astronauts from solar storms?
Shielding astronauts from the deadly radiation they face is a central challenge for any designer of a deep-space crewed mission. Even relatively low levels of exposure over long periods can lead to everything from central nervous system damage to cancer. But current solutions, such as passive water shells or active superconducting magnets, have their own limitations. To get around those, a new paper, available in preprint on arXiv by Valerio Parisi and a team of researchers from Italy and Germany, looks at the feasibility of using a permanent magnet (and its associated permanent magnetic field) to potentially block some of that radiation without the costs of competing technologies.

The Move Over Rule Exists In All 50 States And 1/3 Of Drivers Still Ignore It - Jalopnik

In 2022, the AAA studied footage from traffic cameras across the country. Study authors were looking at the scenes of accidents as well as road construction, cops pulling over drivers, and where tow trucks were extracting disabled cars. But they weren't idly observing service personnel — they were trying to discern compliance with so-called move-over laws that legislators have put on the books across all 50 states. These statutes, at a minimum, require drivers to move out of the adjacent lane when passing emergency vehicles with flashing lights. What the AAA study authors found after looking at footage of over 12,000 cars passing emergency and other vehicles was pretty pitiful compliance: One-third of drivers simply ignored these laws.

Hunter Biden wins $1.7m in suit over Iran bribery claim by ex-CEO of Overstock.com
A federal judge on Friday awarded Hunter Biden $1.7m in punitive damages in a defamation lawsuit he filed against former Overstock.com CEO Patrick Byrne.
Biden sued Byrne – a Donald Trump ally who denied the results of the 2020 election and funded efforts to overturn them – in 2023, accusing Byrne of lying in an interview that Biden had previously sought a bribe from Iran’s government in the fall of 2021.
